Zippy, about 1956. One of my first photographs and one of the first photos I printed in my darkroom.
All photographs are momento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person's (or thing's) mortality, vulnerablilty, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time's relentless melt.
